Anam Cara Meaning

‘Anam Cara’ is the beautiful Celtic phrase which loosely translates as ‘Soulmate’. ‘Anam’ is the Irish Gaelic word for ‘soul’, ‘cara’ translates from Irish (Gaelic) to friend. So, the literal meaning is soul friend.  It doesn’t just describe the union of two people as a couple or friends but rather, it describes a very specific and special relationship between any two people.

The Anam Cara Academy is part of the Western US Region is one of seven regions in North America as set forth by the IDTANA (Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America.) The region follows the rules of both the IDTANA and the governing body in Ireland, An Coimisiun le Rince Gaelacha (CLRG.)

The Western US Region includes dancers and schools in the following states:

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
